Ladislav Lábus Architectural Studio

Ladislav Lábus graduated with a degree in architecture from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague (ČVUT) and after obligatory military service worked as the main planner at Delta studio. In 1990, he started teaching at the Faculty of Architecture at ČVUT where he now works as a professor. In 1991 Ladislav Lábus founded his own Lábus Architectural Studio that deals with designing residential and civic buildings, as well as interiors and small-scale urban planning. The work of the studio focuses on comprehensive project management from the study phase, to project plans and supervision during implementation with an emphasis on the fully-detailed design of the building. Besides many other projects, Ladislav Lábus is the author of the reconstruction of the Langhans Palace in Prague's Vodičkova street that uniquely combines the architecture of the 19th century with the present, and for which he was awarded the Grand Prix Obce Architektů Award in 2003. Ladislav Lábus is the creative mind behind other exceptional projects, namely the redevelopment of Edison's transformer station in Prague, which is another successful example of how reconstruction can naturally complement the original character of a building. Architect Ladislav Lábus is also the force behind the reconstruction of Prague Castle's Riding School, the Hanspaulka New Villas project located in Prague's prestigious Hanspaulka neighborhood, and many other new family houses.
