Cafe Imperial

The grandiose Art Nouveau interior of Cafe Imperial and its offer of delicious drinks and food make it one of the most fascinating cafes in Prague.

Cafe Imperial on Na Poříčí Street that is part of the Imperial Hotel has always been a very busy place. Regardless of the reconstruction that the cafe underwent in 2007 the unforgettable atmosphere in the Grand Café style has been preserved at the cafe. The architect Jaroslav Benedikt built the Imperial Cafe and Hotel in the second decade of the 20th century. The art deco style exterior with Cubist elements was completed with a late Art Nouveau mosaic interior, whose author is Jan Beneš. The Cafe Imperial menu contains the best from Czech cuisine and other specialties and the emphasis is put on the fact that all dishes are homemade and untouched by the fast-food style. Your taste buds will be pampered by the chef and famous personality at the Prague culinary scene Zdeněk Pohlreich and his team. If you find it difficult to choose from the attractive menu, you can try the seven-course degustation menu that represents the best from Cafe Imperial’s offer. If you love the scent of espresso in the morning and a warm breakfast you can order for example three delicious lightly boiled eggs with horseradish and butter or the Parisian omelet with onion and champignons. If you want to start you day with something bigger, you can choose from an English, American, Continental or French breakfast. And if you want, you can even get up early – one of the advantages of Cafe Imperial is that it opens as early as seven in the morning, that is at a time when other cafes are still closed.
