Prague to Budapest

Budapest - city of monuments from the golden times of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, complete with famous spas, Tokaji wine, great restaurants with typical Hungarian cuisine, and so much more!

Budapest has been the capital of the Hungarian nation for centuries. It's actually the union of three separate cities (Buda, Old Buda and Pest), which came together in 1873. It's one of the most visually striking cities in Europe, best known for the majestic Parliament building, which reflects beautifully in the Danube River. This neo Gothic gem with its neo Renaissance dome was inspired by the Parliament building in London. If you love to linger during long walks, you should definitely not miss a wander through Andrassy Avenue, a gorgeous bustling street that features an abundance of landscaped greenery, an array of theaters, restaurants, and cafes, and the State Opera as well. At the end of Andrassy Avenue you will find entrance to the world famous Széchenyi thermal medicinal baths, the largest of its kind in Europe, and Vidam Park, an amusement park for all ages (other spas and baths in Budapest are also worth visiting, such as the Gellert Baths). A trip to Budapest wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Buda Castle and its complex, situated in the Buda area. Part of the complex is also the beautiful Matthias Catholic Church from which there is a stunning view of the Danube and the city. If you love history, pay a visit to the National Museum where you will mainly learn about the history of the Hungarian Empire and Hungarian culture. Budapest has something for everyone, including food lovers; some items that can't be missed are authentic Hungarian goulash and Pick brand Hungarian salami. Budapest can be reached by plane, train (directly from the main train station or Holešovice train station), bus or car. The nearest airport is the Ferenc Liszt International Airport and the Keleti Railway Station.
